Society Rules
Each Player will have a Handicap specific to Dave’s Golf Society.
Each season the player will start with the same handicap he had after the final round of the preceding season.
The handicap will be amended in the following manner
Winner
The Winner of each golf day shall have his handicap cut by 10%. Eg:
A player with a handicap of 24 winning would be cut by 2.4 shots to 21.6
A player with a handicap of 12 winning would be cut by 1.2 shots to 10.8
Runner-Up
The Runner Up of each golf day shall have his handicap cut by 5%
40 points or more
Any player scoring 40 points or more shall have his handicap cut by 5%
Shots back – 23 points or less
Any player scoring 23 points or less shall have his handicap increased by 3%
However, once a player’s handicap has fallen to 24 or less, he can never rise above that
Playing adjustments
All Playing handicaps will be rounded to the nearest whole number for each round (with 0.5 being rounded up)
Eg: a player with a handicap of 18.2 will play off 18 for the next round
a player with a handicap of 18.5 will play off 19 for the next round
a player with a handicap of 18.9 will play off 19 for the next round
Exceptions
Players participating in the Society who have a Club handicap must play off the lower of the 2 figures. The exception to this rule is where the Club handicap is higher than the Society handicap and the player has not played in the Society during the current season. In this situation the Player can use the higher Club handicap.
