What a great turn out for our last golf day of 2024

The weather was lovely, and the course was ion good nick, although I found the greens to be a bit tricky. Can’t remember 3-putting so much for ages!

Brentwood is always one of my favourite days as in addition to the golf, the staff are lovely, and the food is great

Results

The Winner was Mark Stewart with 36 points

Runner Up with 35 points was me. This was a reverse of last year at this course when I won, and mark came runner Up! Lenny also scored 35 points but was beaten on countback (last 6 holes)

Par 3 King with 12 points was won by Dave Coleman. Well, played Dave

Nearest the Pin on 18th was also won by Mark Stewart, although he asked me to mention that Pants put his shot to within a foot but that was after putting his first in the water!

Longest Drive on the 7th was won by Big Al

The Team Competition was won by the team of Mark Stewart, Pants, Richie & Kevin with 87 points. The other team scores were 85, 85, 84 & 82

Player of The Year

It proved to be too much of a feat to catch GP’s score of 115 points and so GP is our Player of the Year for 2024

Well, played Gary

The top 4 were:

Gary Panaghiston             115

Matt Lucas                         109

Dave Duncan                     107

Mark Stewart                    104

The Brentwood Golf Club very kindly gave us a free 4-ball and so I will use that for the top 4 at a date to be arranged

A full summary of the final standings is attached

Next Year

I will start arranging the dates and venues for next year over the coming weeks and plan to have everything in place before Christmas so that you can get the dates in your diary.

I will aim for 7 rounds and the courses I would like to book are as follows:

Brentwood

Langdon Hills

Toot Hill

The Bentley

Abridge

Thorpe Hall

Plus one other – tbc

Handicap system – a reminder

The scores have proved that the new system is working and so I would encourage everyone to continue using either Golf shake or Golf England, but please ensure that whichever one you choose to use that it is kept up to date with all scoresentered.

Could I also please ask that when you come to a golf day that you do know you Index as it is important that we are all playing by the same rules.
