Yet another beautiful dry and pleasant day!  The course was in excellent condition considering the drought we are having!

The combination proved to be perfect for a round of golf. The handicaps seem to be working out well: we have never had such a cluster of close scores, particularly at the top end

To put this into context, Stuart came in 9th with 35 points, with only 2 points separating the 8 players above him!

So, we had 4 players on 36 points, with another 4 tying for first place with 37 points

Results

With 4 players on 37 points we had to go to countback to establish the winner, which was Curtis with 20 on the back 9. Two players scored 18 on the back, which were Kevin & Lester. We then went to the last 6 holes with Kevin just edging gout Lester for Runner up spot by virtue of his 13 points compared to Lester’s 12

Dave Hilliard came in 4th spot with his 37 points. I should add that Dave H was very unlucky as someone from another group must have played his ball on the 3rd hole as his tee shot was clearly visible, but when he got there, it had gone. Without that 2-shot penalty for a lost ball he would have been clear winner with 39 points

The Winner –  Curtis with 37 points

Runner-Up – Kevin with 37 points

Lester and Dave H also scored 37 points

Four players came in with 36 points, which were Martin, Matt, Darren Rawlings and Darren McAlister

Longest Drive was won by Mark, who is slowly but surely edging closer to Richie’s overall total of Longest Drives!

Nearest the Pin was won by Matt on 12th

Par 3 King was also Matt with a massive 14 points across the 5 par 3s. Matt had shots on all of them and scored 4 pars and a bogie

The Team Competition was won, again on countback by my team of Me, Matt, Dave H & Kevin with 93 points. Our back 9 of 48 points edging out Lester, Sam, Darren M & Curtis who had 47 on the back! Unsurprisingly by the 4-ball team of Danny, Kevin, Lenny & Chris with 82 points. The next best was 81

The average points score was 32which is one of our highest

Player of The Year

We now have a number of players who have played 3 or 4 rounds and so the table is starting to take shape

Dave H leads the pack on 102 points, followed by Lester on 101, then Martin and Matt on 100

Keep an eye on Darren Rawlings though. With 68 points from 2 rounds, he is in a good position with 3 rounds to play

Next Golf Day

Our next golf day is on Friday 28th August at The Warren. I will email a few weeks before to get the numbers

Handicap system – a reminder

Almost everyone is now using one of the handicap system and this is great news as it will eventually settle out and be the fairest way.

Could I also please ask that when you come to a golf day that you do know you Index as it is important that we are all playing by the same rules.
