Another really enjoyable golf day. Almost perfect conditions, apart from brief shower. The course was in good shape which made for some really good scores
We had a good turnout of 19 players
Results
Gary Panaghiston took advantage of playing on his home turf by coming in with an amazing 44 points! I am not certain but I feel that must be our highest total ever!
Well played GP. He will now be cut 10% for winning plus a further 5% for scoring 40 or more point.
Danny had a remarkable round, coming in with 41 points playing off a handicap of 7!
His round included no less than 5 Birdies!
Danny will be cut 5% for Runner-Up plus a further 5% for scoring 40 points+
Danny also put to bed the rumour that the low handicappers cannot win the Par 3 King by coming in with 15 points
Just to complete his haul, Danny won the Nearest the Pin in Regulation on the Par 5 10th
He was looking like winning the Nearest the Pin on the 7th , but Sam popped up to take this trophy
The Team Competition was won by GP’s team which included Pants (38) Matt (31) and Chris (28). They amassed an astounding 97 points!
We also had a few other high scores which are worth a mention:
Pants 38
Dusty 37
Wesley 36
Me & Kev 35
Player of the Year
We have now played 5 of our 6 rounds and so we know have a good idea of who the main contenders will be. The summary is attached.
GP has now pushed out in front with 107 points, with Mark & Danny tucked in behind on 102, and then Chris making up the Top Four with 101
However, the race is not just between those 4, as with only the Best 3 scores counting, there are quite a few players who could take the lead with a decent round at Langdon Hills
Take a look at the last column. I have calculated what each of those who remain in contention would need to score to reach the current leading score of 107. This takes into account the score that they would drop if they hit a decent score. There are 7 players who could hit 107 with a score of 40 points or less. The “Dark Horse” could well be Wes. Although he is languishing down in 12th place, his 3rd score is currently 15 and so a score of 36 gives him a 21 point boost to 109 points! So, our final day should be exciting
Next Golf day
Our last golf day of the year is 5 weeks away on Friday October 15th at Langdon Hills. This will once again be limited to 24 players so get the date in your diary. I will send out a reminder and collect names in a couple of weeks’ time
Rule changes
I feel the new rules changes are helping the flow of the game and certainly have taken a lot of the confusion out of certain situations, so thank you all for taking them on board in such a positive manner
Our Website
I know a few of you took photos on Friday. Can you please send them to me or to Keith Fullick and he will put them on the Website
