What a fantastic day at Thorndon Park

The course was simply outstanding!

They have felled a large number of trees this year and the course looks and plays really well as a result

The greens were very quick but very fair. I think this more than anything explains the relatively low scores when compared to other Golf Days

That fact alone makes the winning score even more remarkable

Results

Well done Dave Hilliard for an excellent round scoring 39 points!

This means that Dave has now won back to back golf days

Runner up was Darren with 36 points. I played with Darren and but for a couple of wayward drives meaning he played 3 off the tee, he would have hit 40 points

Darren also won Par 3 King with 10 points, pipping me by a point on both counts (we had identical 2 foot par putts on the Par 3 12^{th .} He nailed his and I missed mine, proving costly!)

Nearest the Pin on the 5^th was also won by Darren, with Dave Hilliard making it a Darren/Dave H clean sweep by winning Nearest the Pin in 2 on the 18^th

Dave H will now be cut 10% to 16.5 and Darren will be cut 5% to 23.8

A few players will be receiving points back on their handicap, with both Gary P and Chris looking like they are playing “the long game”.

I am watching you 2, just so you know!

The team competition went to my team which included Darren (naturally!) Simon and Clive. Our total of 85 Points was enough to secure the cash pot!

Player of The Year

We now have 4 rounds and so I have updated the leaderboad. Dave H has extended his lead and his total of 114 looks very solid, However, with a second successive cut to his handicap, and lowest score of 37 to drop, he is definitely catchable

Next Golf Day

Our next Golf Day will be on Friday 20^th July at Toot Hill.

Our first tee time we will be 11.15 but I will send out a reminder closer to the day.
